Sense of magic – a quality shared by the living people
One of the best qualities in children is that they can be surprised by the world. When they see something, whether it is a fountain, a sparrow or a balloon, they look at it with such wonder as if it were the most magical thing in the world. And then the question arises – how many of us adults can still experience such a sense of magic at least sometimes?
A sunrise over the mountain ridges, the song of a nightingale, a passing meteor – all these things can make you hold your breath and in a few moments contemplate the completeness of the whole universe. But how many adults still stop to appreciate the magic that surrounds them? And why do most pass it by simply because it happens on an ordinary Wednesday morning?
Yes, the sun rises every day. But that doesn’t make any of the sunrises any less splendid. Yes, it rains every month. But that doesn’t make every drop any less special. We are all constantly in a whirlwind of magic, but our ability to notice it is what defines our worth as humans.
And why stop there – an ice cream machine, a cobblestone street, abandoned train tracks, a hole in a beautiful dress, the smell of freshly baked bread – there are thousands, thousands of things that meet us in our daily lives that we can greet with hello, magnificent thing, I’m glad that you are here.
Man is only alive if he can see the magic when it is there. This means that he is open to the world and will follow any path that can lead him to perfection.
