Overpopulation – The problem from which all other problems “are born”

Humanity has only two problems. The first is that it is spiritually dead. The second is overpopulation. The first is quite difficult and complicated to overcome. But the solution to the second one seems pretty simple: get people to stop giving birth. That will destroy all the other adverse trends that have become global problems.

Global warming. The main cause of global warming is human activity. If there are not seven billion people on earth, it will be slowed or even stopped. Limiting global warming will solve dozens more problems, including natural cataclysms, the disappearance of ice caps, rising ocean levels, animal species dying off, etc, etc.

GMOS. The justification for GMOs is that the earth’s population needs to be fed. When you realise that your planet is unable to provide for your existence, you have to realize that you have gone too far. If the number of earthlings is reasonable, there will be enough high quality food for more of them.

Inhumane treatment of animals. Here the situation is the same. Chickens, cows and pigs will not be kept in disgusting conditions so that supply can keep up with demand. Crocodiles and minks will not be killed in mass numbers for their skins because there will not be hundreds of companies making bags and coats out of them.

Deforestation. Humanity will not need as much timber, which will reduce deforestation. Animal habitats will be protected and carbon emission levels will decrease.

Poverty. Many of the countries with the poorest resources are also those with the highest population growth, meaning the problem will get worse in the future. Limiting fertility will allow these countries to build a more sustainable economy.

Crime. Poverty is one of the main motives for crime. When wealth is distributed among fewer people, the need for theft and violence will decrease.

War. On a more global scale, scarce resources will stop being the cause of wars.

Pollution. Population reduction will greatly alleviate the pollution problem since, on average, each person produces 1.2 kilograms of garbage per day.
Energy sustainability. Fewer people means lower energy consumption. This will slow the depletion of oil resources and make the transition to green energy more peaceful.

Control. Controlling a huge mass of human beings requires laws and constant monitoring. Social networks, which represent the largest concentrations of people, are also the most used method of propaganda, manipulation and control. Laws are introduced without resistance because people feel threatened by poverty and crime. Surveillance is easily portrayed as a security measure, when in fact it aims to restrict personal freedom.

Herd mentality. If there are as many people as the Earth can safely support, the manipulation that we should think like a herd rather than individuals will not work. It will be easier for everyone to become aware of themselves as individuals, which in the long run will lead to progress for all humanity.

Quality. The development of humanity in the last century clearly shows that quality is inversely proportional to quantity. In a healthy world without total control and mass collectivism, the individual would be free to develop and overcome oneself.

And in case there is still someone who doubts the seriousness of the problem, let’s resort to a little statistics. India and China are the two most populous countries in the world, each with over a billion more inhabitants than number three, the United States, where the people are about 330 million. Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Mexico, Ethiopia and the Philippines have over 100 million inhabitants and growing. Nigeria is now in seventh and its fertility rate is still 5.0. According to UN estimates, in 2100 Nigeria will have a population of 752 million, which will be larger than all of Europe, including Russia, with 646 million. Niger has a fertility rate of 6.4. For Somalia, Congo, Mali and Chad, it is also above 5.0. Meanwhile, life expectancy has increased from 48 years in 1955 to 71.4 years in 2015. Doesn’t the world find all this disturbing?

And here’s something much scarier than any horror movie: http://www.worldometers.info/world-population/

People need to be clear about what their main problem is. They whine about rights, democracy, inequality, poverty and climate because it suits them that the solutions to these issues do not depend on them personally. Overpopulation is discussed, but everyone talks about “adapting” to it because the possible solutions are agreeable to anyone.

Humanity is perfect because it is the only species on the planet that is capable of self-destruction. But if we ever do that, let the reason be greatness, not weakness.
